In the mid-1990's Justin set up his own practice and, since then, the office has completed a wide range of private residential, commercial and school projects. Currently the office works principally on private residential and school work. Justin particularily enjoys the opportunities and challenges of working with clients on existing residential buildings, and delivering the impact that carefully considered design in such projects can achieve.
When working with clients in their own home the design intention of the practice is to change the focus of a client's home, to create an opportunity for light, to maximise the enjoyment of those who inhabit the spaces, and to accomplish these goals at affordable construction costs.
When working on existing buildings our aim is to understand the history, style, architectural features and structural condition of the building as well as the client’s needs and requirements. It is important to us that each project is characterised by a thoughtful choice of high quality materials, detailed in a contextually sensitive, manner to ensure planning permission is granted, energy-efficient and completed on time and within budget.
Justin was accredited RIAI Conservation Grade 3 in 2006 and achieved RIAI Project Supervisor (Design Process) accreditation in 2009.
Justin exhibited in the RIAI Design for Living exhibition in 1997 and practice was awarded the RIAI Universal Design Award in 2014 for the refurbishment and extension of a house in Dublin.
